Testament – Practice What You Preach (Colored Vinyl), Orange/White Swirl
This is Testament leveling things up.
Released in '89, Practice What You Preach pulls things in just enough—still heavy and fast, but more with more control and melody than the first two records (which are great, too). The riffs are tighter, the songwriting is sharper, and Chuck really comes into his own here.
The title track, “Perilous Nation,” and “Greenhouse Effect” carry that Bay Area thrash energy, but there’s more range here—“The Ballad” and “Confusion Fusion” show they weren’t just trying to outplay faster than everyone else.
This is that late-’80s moment where thrash starts really evolving—still aggressive, but more structured and built sturdy.
This pressing brings it back on orange/white swirl vinyl—clean, limited feel, and a strong piece for listeners and collectors, alike.
Why this belongs in your collection:
Because this is Testament at their most complete—still thrash, but with some real depth.
