Soundgarden – Superunknown (2LP, Remastered), Black Vinyl
This is where everything came together for Soundgarden.
Released in '94, Superunknown is Soundgarden at full-scale—heavier than most alternative rock, more complex than most metal, and way more layered than either one. It’s not just loud—it’s textured, unpredictable, and constantly evolving throughout this album.
Chris Cornell (R.I.P.) is at his peak here—moving from controlled melodies to full-power without losing a thing in between. Tracks like “Black Hole Sun,” “Fell on Black Days,” and “The Day I Tried to Live” carry weight, but the deeper cuts are where the album really stretches all the way out.
There’s a bit of darkness running through the whole record—slower tempos, odd time signatures, and riffs that feel more "atmospheric" than aggressive. The sound is heavy without being one-dimensional.
This remastered 2LP edition gives it the space it needs—spread across four sides so the dynamics actually come through the way they should. Legends.
Why this belongs in your collection:
Because this is one of the defining rock albums of the ‘90s—and it still sounds massive.
