Metallica – Kill ’Em All (180g LP, Remastered)
Metallica came out swinging with Kill 'Em All. Released in ’83, this is where thrash really kicked the door in—fast, aggressive, and stripped of all the glam that was dominating, at the time.
It’s raw, but tight. You can hear the mix of New Wave of British Heavy Metal influence and hardcore punk speed all over it. James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich are locked in—but the addition of Cliff Burton really set this apart.
Cliff’s bass work brings a different level of musicianship to the album, especially on “(Anesthesia) – Pulling Teeth,” where he gets a full spotlight. It’s a glimpse of how far Metallica would push things musically in the years that followed.
“Seek & Destroy,” “Whiplash,” “The Four Horsemen,” “Hit the Lights”—all staples. This is the blueprint.
