Clutch – Transnational Speedway League: Anthems, Anecdotes and Undeniable Truths (Collector’s Series, 180g, Remastered), Colored Vinyl
Before Clutch (self-titled) fully locked things in, this is where it started—raw, weird, and completely a thing of its own. This is still our favorite Clutch album for all of those things just mentioned.
Originally released in '93, Transnational Speedway League feels a little more chaotic and unpredictable than what they’d become later. The riffs are still there, but there’s more punk energy, more left turns, and a looser structure that leans into noise, groove, and attitude all at once. Difficult to explain.
Tracks like “A Shogun Named Marcus” and “Binge and Purge” hit with that early, unrefined power—while cuts like “Walking in the Great Shining Path of Monster Trucks” show just how off-center the band was willing to go. It’s heavy, but it doesn’t follow rules—and we believe that is the point.
This Collector’s Series pressing brings it back, remastered on 180g colored vinyl, giving this early chapter the weight it deserves without sanding down the edges.
Why this belongs in your collection:
Because this is Clutch before the blueprint—raw, strange, and still figuring it out in the best possible way.
