Avail – 4AM Friday (2LP Reissue w/ Live Set, Remastered)
One of our favorite bands, especially growing-up in the South.
4AM Friday is Avail at full strength—working-class punk that actually feels lived in. Originally released in 1996, this record locked in their sound: melodic, fast, and built for shouting back every word at their show.
There’s no posturing here—just real-life frustration, loyalty, and movement. Tracks like “Simple Song,” “Order,” and “F.C.A.” carry that Southern hardcore energy that sat somewhere between DC influence and its own Richmond identity.
This 2LP reissue goes deeper than a standard repress. Along with a full remaster, it includes a complete live set from Bottom of the Hill (San Francisco, 1997)—and that’s where it really hits. Avail live was the point, and captures Avail exactly how they were meant to be heard: loud, tight, and completely locked in with their crowd.
New liner notes, photos, and updated artwork round it out into a proper document—not just a reissue.
Why this belongs in your collection:
Because Avail wasn’t just a band—they were a community, and this is them at their peak.
